1. Cherry Creek State Park
One of the best Denver area RV parks is located in Cherry Creek State Park. It’s open year-round, although some campsites are closed during the winter. The park offers hiking, horseback riding, fishing, and boating. There are also shops and restaurants just outside of the park.
The campsite has full hookup sites with 20, 30, & 50 amp sites. There are also tent sites available. Amenities include showers, laundry facility, and WiFi. Basic campsites are $28 per day and full hookup campsites are $41. These fees do not include the cost of admission to the park.
2. Denver West / Central City KOA Holiday
Without a doubt, one of the best Denver RV resorts is the Denver West / Central City KOA Holiday. With all that this park has to offer, you won’t want to leave! They are “Big-Rig Friendly” with pull-through sites, free cable TV, and free WiFi. All of their campsites have 50 amp full hookups. The park also has a playground, hot tubs, a recreation room, and showers. Nightly rates average $80.
In the area, you’ll find plenty to do. The area is especially known for its historic mine tours, gold panning, river rafting, and casinos. From here you can also head out on one of the best RV trips in the US: Denver to Grand Junction.
3. Clear Creek RV Park
Just west of Denver is Clear Creek RV Park. It is open all year and offers sites along Clear Creek, WiFi, showers, and laundry facilities. Full hookup sites are $55 and full hookup sites along the creek are $65.
With the city of Golden being just half a mile away, there are plenty of attractions and restaurants to visit. Some favorites are the Coors Brewery, the Colorado Railroad Museum, and Buffalo Bill’s Grave and Museum.
4. Dakota Ridge RV Park
Another of the best Denver area RV parks is Dakota Ridge RV Park. It’s located perfectly for both outdoor adventures and big-city experiences. Within 20 minutes you could be in Downtown Denver. Or, within ten minutes, you could be seeing real dinosaur fossils in Dinosaur Ridge or hiking in Red Rocks Park and Amphitheatre.
Dakota Ridge is open year-round and has both pull-through and back-in sites. There is a clubhouse, seasonal pool and hot tub, and free WiFi. Daily rates vary between $61 and $82 with weekly rates varying between $406 and $505.
5. Spruce Lake RV Resort
Heading a bit north towards Rocky Mountain National Park, a popular RV park near Denver is Spruce Lake RV Resort. Located in Estes Park, it has full hookups with 30 and 50 amp sites. It also has both back-in and pull-through sites. As for amenities, it has showers, laundry facilities, and a seasonal pool and hot tub. Daily rates vary between $75 and $81 with a weekly rate of $498.
Local attractions include Rocky Mountain National Park, Roosevelt National Forest, and Estes Park 18 Hole Golf Course. Fly fishing trips are also very popular.
6. Estes Park KOA Holiday
Estes Park KOA Holiday is another great RV resort just outside of Rocky National Park. It has 50 amp full hookup sites, showers, laundry facilities, WiFi, cable TV, and a dog park. Nightly rates average $75. Remember that if you are a KOA discount club member, you get 10% off at KOA parks.
Next to the RV park is Sombrero Ranch, where you can go horseback riding. You can drive along Trail Ridge Road, the highest national highway in the country with panoramic views from 12,000 feet. And, of course, there is plenty of hiking, biking, and fishing nearby.
7. Boyd Lake State Park
Another popular RV park near Denver is inside Boyd Lake State Park. The campground has 148 paved pull-through sites that can accommodate vehicles up to 40 feet in length. All sites have 20, 30, and 50 amp electric hookups and a picnic table and grill. Campsites are $36 a day but keep in mind you have to pay for an additional $10 daily entrance pass.
The main attraction in the area is Boyd Lake itself. On the lake, you can go swimming, boating, canoeing, water-skiing, jet-skiing, and fishing. The park is also home to a lot of wildlife, including coyotes, red foxes, bears, raccoons, and over 200 species of birds.
8. Chatfield State Park
One of the best Denver RV parks is located in Chatfield State Park. The park has four camping areas with 197 sites. All campsites are surrounded by grass, are within walking distance of the lake, and have picnic tables and grills. Amenities include flush toilets, hot showers, a laundry facility, centrally located water, firewood, and a sanitary waste station. Full hookup campsites are $41 and electrical hookup only campsites are $36. This does not include the daily Parks Pass.
Chatfield offers great outdoor activities like biking, fishing, hiking, boating, horseback riding, and ice fishing. A really unique thing to do, however, is to go on a hot air balloon ride.
9. Garden of the Gods RV Resort
Heading a bit further south of Denver, you’ll find Garden of the Gods RV Resort in Colorado Springs. They offer five RV site choices: Standard, Deluxe, and Poolside back-ins, Premium, and Executive pull-throughs. Amenities include swimming pools, showers, laundry facilities, a TV lounge, arcade, and free WiFi. Campsites range from $67 to $112 per day.
There are a lot of attractions nearby, including the Pike’s Peak COG Railway, Cheyenne Mountain Zoo, and, of course, Garden of the Gods Park.
10. Cripple Creek KOA Holiday
Another RV park near Denver that is very popular is Cripple Creek KOA Holiday. At 10,000 feet above sea level, it’s the highest KOA in the world! Just imagine the sunsets you’ll see from your campsite. If you’re looking for peace and quiet, you’ll find it at Cripple Creek.
Cripple Creek has pull-through RV sites with 50 amp full hookups. They also have a dog park, pavilion, laundry facility, free WiFi, picnic tables, and fire rings. Nightly rates average $65.
