As a residential and commercial interior designer and the owner of interior design company Heirloom Fox, Ashley DeKellis loves to infuse personality into every space she enters. Seeing as how she’s had to update plenty of homes and other buildings in the past, DeKellis was in search of a new and interesting project when she landed on an RV.
“I really wanted something I could renovate that was completely different than what I had ever done before,” DeKellis shares with us. “I guess you could say I was never really the outdoorsy type, but sometimes you need to push yourself to do things you aren’t familiar with.”
“After renovating my first RV, I realized that I do in fact enjoy the outdoors, exploring and enjoying nature — I just had to do it my own way, which means in style.”
When choosing her renovation project, DeKellis chose a classic. “I’ve always been drawn to Airstreams,” she says. “Even though I wasn’t into camping for the majority of my life, I admired the styling and uniqueness Airstream offered with their groundbreaking design. When one came up for sale in a nearby town for a screaming deal, I couldn’t pass it up and have been working to make her beautiful and timeless without compromising a lot of the original features that are still in pristine condition.”
Of course, such an amazing work of art must be shared, and that’s just what DeKellis decided to do. “When I bought the ‘Silver Fox’, I knew that I needed to share her with others,” DeKellis says, adding that the idea to rent her Airstream on Outdoorsy came naturally since she also rents her home on Airbnb and manages other short-term rental properties.
“Sharing something I have renovated or designed is so satisfying to me,” she says. “I love to see the reactions of others when they are really enjoying and appreciating the work I have put into a project. I try to create a space where strangers can feel completely at home and at ease.”

DeKellis hopes the Silver Fox is able to help renters create fond, lasting memories. “I love creating spaces for others to enjoy,” she says, “and I hope the experience touches them and leaves them feeling inspired and renewed.”
