“About 15 years ago, before we got married, my wife and I rented a class C RV and went to Joshua Tree National Park on Valentine’s weekend,” owner Kyle Humphrey reminisces. “It was a learning experience and great quality time!”
Little did Kyle and his wife Andra know, this was the beginning of an enormous adventure! 14 years later, the couple bought their first RV. “We wanted to get outdoors and spend quality time with friends and family while making a little money when we weren’t using our RV,” Kyle shares with us. “We actually bought based on what we thought would rent well.”
And rent well it did. “We got our first rental request less than 24 hours from loading our first unit,” Kyle tells us. “We have grown tremendously in the last couple years, and we now have 18 units. Last year we did about $115,000, and this first quarter we will do about $48,000, which could put us on track to do $200,000 this year!”
That is an awesome success story. It leaves many of us wondering how they did it. “We do a lot of things that separate us from other RV companies,” Humphrey explains. “Our highlights are that our units are fully outfitted, we go through detailed training when the renter arrives, and you can rent our units for sale. We offer financing and even free storage!”
We imagine these things have a lot to do with the success this couple has seen. Kyle also shared this little nugget of wisdom for those just starting out in the RV rental business: “Hire the right people. Customer service and processes are very important in the rental business.”
We all know that Kyle is right. Customer service needs to be at the core of every business, and success will follow. “We hope that people have a great experience with us, from booking to returning the RV,” Humphrey tells us. “We really try to set every renter up for success through preparation and training. Our goal is to get our rental, storage, and sales customers out with their family enjoying the outdoors!”
