Outdoorsy owner Morgan Bailey Weeks is a wanderer at heart. “I live to travel, and the cost of hotel stays was really starting to add up,” she tells us. “Knowing absolutely nothing about RVs and looking to cut long-term costs, I bought an RV.”
Some might think Morgan’s decision to purchase an RV was rash, but her family got a lot of use out of that adorable little trailer, traveling any chance they got. “I never bought our unit with the intention of renting it out,” Morgan says, “and every person in my life was against it—including my kids.”
“Unfortunately, a little while after purchasing our Minnie, my husband started to suffer some health issues and wasn’t up to adventuring anymore. I called around to try to sell her less than a year after buying, but the loss I would have had to take on her was too great for me to stomach. So, I did what a lot of young people do: I googled. I decided to find a way to keep her, and Outdoorsy became that way.”
Of course, Weeks did come across other platforms during her search. “I looked around at the different options and did some research,” she recalls. “I decided Outdoorsy was the best overall and decided to send my Minnie on her next adventure. I’ve never been tempted by any of the other platforms, and I stay busy.”
How busy? Well, Morgan was kind enough to share how much she’s made through renting. “Probably around $15,000 and counting,” she shares. “Most of that came from last year, but business has not let up, so I’m hoping to break last year’s numbers.”
Weeks feels that one of the reasons her RV has done so well is that it stands out from a crowd. “My rig is bright red, so it instantly stands out,” she tells us. “Some of my renters have told me they chose Minnie right away without ever looking at an inside pic because of her color. I like to keep my rig clean and stocked with anything a guest could need or want on their trip. The inside is Mickey and Minnie Mouse-themed, of course, and we always provide Jiffy Pop and bubbles. Other than that, I treat all my guests how I would like to be treated and take great pride in my reviews.”
Another secret to success? Setting yourself up to relax and enjoy the ride. “I know Outdoorsy has my rig covered, so I never worry,” Morgan tells us. “The coverage brings me peace of mind, and I really never have any concerns. It’s always been a choice between letting it sit in my driveway or letting it go off on money-making adventures where others get to build lasting memories.”
We’d say that’s a pretty easy decision!
