An adorable couple with two cute and stylish campers, Mason and Shanna Passey are some seriously creative people. These Outdoorsy owners started their rental business by renovating a small pop-up camper for their own use, and they did such a good job that they decided to do it again.
“We got our first pop-up camper (his name is Skamper) about two months after we got married in 2016,” Mason says. “We renovated that camper over the course of about a year and took our first trip on our one-year anniversary.”
“After we finished our camper, we started an Instagram page, @skamperandfriends, to share photos of our trip, and we had a couple of people reach out and ask if they could rent our camper for their own trips. That is when we decided to purchase another camper, Jerome, and renovate it with the intent of starting a business sharing our love for camping with others.”
When the second pop-up was just as cute and ready to be rented as the first, the Passey’s chose to list on Outdoorsy. They made this decision for two main reasons.

“Our camper is a little older, and other platforms would not let us rent it even though it has been completely renovated and is in perfect condition. We also love the feel and attention that Outdoorsy gives to the community and we are happy to support them!”
“We had our first booking less than a week after listing our RV,” Mason adds. “We definitely weren’t expecting it to happen that fast!”
That first rental was a memorable one for sure. “Our first renter was an awesome family from Phoenix that went up to the mountains in Northern Arizona,” Mason says. “They came back so excited from the memories they made on their trip that they immediately went and looked at a pop-up camper to buy for themselves to continue on the tradition.”
With four rentals under their belt, the couple will continue sharing their sweet little rig and their love of camping with others. “We really hope that others will be able to create happy memories with family and friends and feel encouraged to continue to explore,” Mason says. “We have had nothing but great experiences [so far]. Every renter has been super respectful and has treated it like their own home. Hopefully that continues!”
