“We had been looking for a business we could run,” says Raul Rodriguez when asked why he listed his RV on Outdoorsy. “We also love the outdoors, so when we heard about people renting out their RVs, we thought we would give it a try. Best case, we could make some money. Worst case, we had an RV. Seemed like a win-win!”
“Outdoorsy was the main platform we heard about when we started discussing doing this,” Raul continues. “We knew that we would list on Outdoorsy, as it seemed to be the go-to spot for people looking for rentals. It also has a lower commission rate than other platforms, with the opportunity to get a lower commission through your referral booking link.”
It would seem Outdoorsy was the right choice of platform for Raul and Gloria. “We had our first booking within a few weeks of listing on Outdoorsy,” Rodriguez recalls. “After buying the first RV at the end of July, we bought another in November. Those two stayed busy, so in 2021 we bought two more, so we are now up to four rigs.”
Obviously, this couple stays very busy with their business, and renting has even allowed Raul to quit his job and run the business full-time. That said, Gloria and Raul do make sure to enjoy the perks of owning RVs by taking them out on their own adventures from time to time. “My wife and I recently went on a week-long trip that took us to the Frio River, which was awesome, and another spot with lots of wildlife including alligators,” Rodriguez shares. “We ended the trip camping right on the beach at Padre Island National Seashore. It was a nice getaway.”
Clearly, Raul was right when he thought renting an RV would be a win-win situation. So far, the couple has made over $10K and they look forward to growing their business even more in the coming years. “We just recently went to an owners meetup, and all the people from Outdoorsy are great,” says Raul. “They shared some very good info, which has us even more excited for growing our business with Outdoorsy!”
A growing fleet and increasing profits are wonderful, of course, but there’s another benefit that comes along with the growth of an RV rental business: the opportunity to share what you love. “We are grateful every time someone chooses us for a family getaway,” Raul shares. “We understand that this is an important time for them. Most are taking time off of work to spend some much-earned time with family, and we only hope to add to their experience with our rentals. We are truly grateful they have chosen and trusted us to provide this service.”
