We met Steve Conway at the Pismo Beach Vintage Trailer Rally this year. We chatted with him for a long while but came to understand pretty quickly why he grew up to be such an avid road traveler.
“It’s just what we grew up with. We did a lot of vacations with my parents, we had a little ’55 station wagon and we had no money. We’d take off in the summer after school was out and spend 2 months in, like, Yellowstone or Jackson Hole, basically eating things like potato soup and fish, whatever we caught. We were poor but we didn’t know it. Those memories are, you know, what you grew up with. So we always liked camping.”
We want to hear your childhood road travel memories. Tell us about them in the comments, or share with us on Facebook or Twitter.
