Short story…rent this RV!Owner (Eric) works hard for you. If you don’t know anything about RVs, this is the guy to rent from. Super helpful but not all in your business.Had it delivered and it really made my life easy. Well worth the delivery fee!Pay the dump fee!! At the end of the trip you just do your walk through with the owner and head home. He takes care of the rest.RV was clean, smelled good, and exactly what we needed. Everything worked. A fuse did trip at the power hookup pedestal (the electrical hookup out behind the RV) so air conditioning went off. If the air conditioner stops working and everything else is working, you may be running on battery and not electric from the park. Went out and cycled the breaker at the power hookup pedestal a couple of times and the air conditioner came back to life. If you don’t know what any of that means, just contact the owner and he can advise. Otherwise, everything worked awesome. Here are a few things we really enjoyed:
1. Lights on the outside of the RV made evenings outside feel comfortable.
2. The mini fridge on the outside was super convenient.
3. Air conditioner was priceless.
4. Just having our own toilet was worth every penny.
5. Fridge was good and cold.
6. Freezer was very cold.
7. Bed was comfortable.
8. Insanely hot water.Things I now know for sure:
1. RV is way better than a tent.
2. Get a campsite with a sewer connection. If not, DO NOT TAKE ANYTHING OTHER THAN VERY, VERY, VERY SHORT SHOWERS. The gray water tank will fill up super fast. Even with just a couple of “quick” showers the gray water will fill up. Use it and enjoy it but understand it is not a bottomless pit. To shower: Turn on the shower to wet. Turn off the shower. Soap up. Rinse off. Repeat. That’s it. It works great just understand the basic limits. Anything more and you are on your own.
3. Not sure if it is a must but all the experienced RV crowd recommended turning off the water heater at night.
4. Bring a real lantern to use outside and away from the RV at the campsite. The electric ones just don’t have the same feel as the old school lanterns that use some kind of real fuel, flame, and mantles.
5. Bring your own cast iron skillet. Camping just is not the same without one.Lastly, this next section does not reflect on the RV or the owner. The rental process was simple up until the ID verification face scan biometric process debacle. In short, it didn’t work. I don’t know why and I don’t care. I do know it took two hours on the phone to get my reservation completed. I am grateful for the young lady at customer service for being amazingly helpful, patient, and ultimately saving my camping trip. There needs to be some kind of alternative ID verification process available to the customers. Something like a notarized “I am me” pdf or something that does not relay on technology working. This one issue almost ruined what turned out to be an adventure of a lifetime. If I have to do all that ever again, I will never ever rent from Outdoorsy again and I don’t recommend you putting you trips in the hands of some kind of technology that can ruin your trip without any kind of alternative process being available. Outdoorsy needs some kind of backup process.
