We had an incredible experience with Quirky Campers in our van, Mary Rose. The camper van owner, Matt, made the whole process so seamless - he gave us recommendations for our trip (places to go and see), as well as explained how to use everything in the camper van before we left so we were very confident at the start of our trip. The van was beautiful and so user-friendly (super comfortable bed, everything you need for cooking, everything you need for activities like chairs, table, solar shower, etc). This was a highlight of our trip to New Zealand and we can’t wait to do it again!

We had a great time travelling around the South Island in Button (the second Camper we have hired from Quirky NZ). The vehicle was great and the owners and Quirky team were very helpful with any queries we had. Would recommend!

Tira is wonderful! I had a brilliant two weeks in her, exploring the North Island. She's easy to drive and park, and a comfy bed to sleep on.

We had an amazing time in Sammy! He is a lovely compact camper and comes with a good supply of pillows/blankets/utensils! The owner Ashleigh is lovely! Always happy to help with any questions we had and is always willing to help/solve any issues as soon as possible! Would 10/10 recommend booking Sammy with her :)

Easy booking. The owners provide a great service (contact, pick up/drop off), and are great people. Queenie was awesome - great condition, good to drive and very well setup. No shortcuts were taken when setting up this campervan.

We had a brilliant month in Barbara - the van had great character as well as being very functional and spacious. Easy to drive, comfortable to sleep in and far nicer layout/use of space than the other counterparts we came across. Very homey and surprisingly easy to live in considering the confined space! Absolutely recommend!

Hiring Mary Rose was one of the best decisions we made to travel around and see the South Island! Matt and Kate have put in a lot of thought into ensuring the van is not just Quirky, but also very functional! The van was easy to drive, and very well furnished with a comfortable fixed bed and a lot of storage space under it, an easy to use 2-burner stove and utensils, a heater for the cold nights, and a solar panel that meant we never actually needed to power up at any of the campsites!
Over and above this, Matt and Kate were very easy to communicate with and went out of their way to ensure we had an enjoyable trip. They gave us useful recommendations on where to go, and apps to download to find gas, and campsites en route. They also went to the extent of having us order groceries ahead of our landing in NZ given that it was a public holiday, and then picking up and stocking said groceries in the van.
We take back many wonderful memories of the South Island, only possible courtesy our Quirky Camper - Mary Rose!

I absolutely loved my camper Kereru and my overall experience with Quirky Campers. I decided to extend my trip and was looking for a new van day of in the middle of the holiday season. Quirky worked with urgency after reading my message and were able to get me into a new van within a couple hours of my initial outreach whereas most companies wouldn't even respond or answer the phone.

We loved our time in Monty! We spent 10 days on a trip around the South Island and mostly stayed in DOC campsites with a few free campsites and one more expensive campsite thrown in (for the hot showers!). We loved how compact Monty is - he's easy to manoeuvre on the roads and fit into normal size parking spaces. His engine is also small but we managed fine on all roads (and pulled over when a queue developed behind us). The kitchen space was great with a good sized fridge and all amenities included. We found we had to refill the water supply every 2 days which was fine. The bed was comfy but it is short (it was a slight struggle for me at 192cm). The tinted windows were great and the curtains were easy to lower to block out light in the morning. Lots of room in the back for clothing and suitcases, etc. Monty is also short so you can't stand up straight but you cook outside the van anyway so we didn't mind. We didn't use the toilet inside as there are so many public toilets in NZ, including at the free camping spots, so it wasn't a problem. Thanks again!

Had an amazing experience in button! The car was a dream to drive and the owners were super helpful and kind. Was the trip of a lifetime. Would definitely recommend.

Ash made the pick up, drop off and entire experience so smooth! Ollie runs like a champ and was so reliable throughout our trip. Whenever we had a question Ash was quick to respond. Great experience from start to finish and would rent again with Quirky Campers!

We were the first people to take the brilliant Mary Rose out on the road and we were not disappointed. What a beautiful home away from home feel this Camper had. It was our honeymoon and we were very sad to say goodbye at the end of our travels. We camped in amazing spots with incredible views, cooked some lovely dinners on the gas stove that pulls out. It had plenty of storage for a 3 week trip, the bed was very comfortable. We would both highly recommend hiring out this campervan. Matt the owner and builder of Mary Rose was extremely helpful with his advice and knowledge of camping around Newzealand and we’ll never forget our wonderful adventure here. We rented Dorothy for a 2 week road trip around the South Island and we couldn’t recommend her any more! Her owners Steve and Kaylene made sure Dorothy had absolutely everything we needed to be self contained on the road from cooking utensils to camp chairs to ample charging units for all our devices. The van is solar powered so doesn’t need to be plugged in which meant we could freedom camp/use unpowered sites wherever we went. The moveable hot plate is particularly handy as it means you can cook outside or in the kitchen facilities of the campsites. The pickup and drop off is conveniently located close to the airport and Steve made the handover process quick and simple so we could get on the road. If you are looking for a van for a NZ road trip Dorothy is the perfect option :) Thanks again to Steve + Kaylene!

Tira was a very comfortable and pleasant car to travel around New Zealand. It is very nicely and practically build so you do not have any problems on the way. The electricity, the kitchen, the bed and storage place, everything was perfect and we really enjoyed the time traveling with Tira.
